As an entrepreneur in the food sector, you are dealing with high energy prices and poor availability of energy connections. At the same time, there is an urgency to reduce emissions. The transition to or supplementation with more sustainable energy sources will inevitably be necessary sooner or later. But which energy source(s) should you choose? Will you transition entirely, partially, or in phases? How do you ensure your continuity? What taxes and subsidies are involved? What optimizations offer the most return? We provide answers to all these questions. GETEC advises, invests, and takes over the operation and maintenance of the necessary assets for you.

Green Gas

A sustainable alternative to natural gas.

Green gas does not require modifications to your existing infrastructure, but its availability is limited. GETEC can guarantee the availability of green gas with a digestion facility that converts biomass into green gas. This aligns with the blending obligation that will apply to energy suppliers.

E-Boiler

You can electrify your process, for example, by using an e-boiler. However, in this time of network congestion, is the heavier connection required for this available? Perhaps installing an e-boiler alongside your existing gas boiler in a hybrid system is the solution. The gas boiler only operates during peak times, while the e-boiler provides you with sustainable energy at other times.

Wind and Solar

You can generate electricity yourself using wind and solar energy. This electricity can be directly used for your processes and stored in batteries or as heat in an e-boiler.

Hydrogen

Do you have high-temperature installations? Even then, hydrogen can be an interesting and profitable alternative. GETEC has the expertise to produce green hydrogen through biomass gasification (high-temperature fermentation).

Hydrogen is on the rise. The significant advantages of green-produced hydrogen include minimal emissions and good storage and transportation capabilities. Currently, a national hydrogen network is being developed in the Netherlands to connect the major industrial clusters. Producing hydrogen yourself may be a viable option. Decentralized hydrogen production could also be an alternative if you are relatively far from the necessary energy infrastructure or if the energy infrastructure is not available in the short term. We explore this option for you.

Additionally, there is another benefit: oxygen is released during hydrogen production. This oxygen can be used to purify wastewater. GETEC can adapt your wastewater treatment plant accordingly, providing your production process with its own closed water circuit.

Heat and Cold Exchange

Generating heat yourself can be achieved with a system for heat and cold storage (WKO) that utilizes the temperature difference between the Earth's surface and heat from the subsurface. This technology is proven and effective. Even greater heat efficiency can be achieved at greater depths through geothermal energy (or ground-source heat). We expect this method to be profitable from 2030 onwards.

District Heating Network

Connecting to an existing district heating network in your area can be the most efficient way to transition to a more sustainable and profitable energy supply. In this regard, GETEC can develop the connection to the district heating network for you, handling the investment and ensuring everything continues to function smoothly.
